The Tanami Track and The Granites, in the Northern Territory, of Australia, are a fond memory for me from my days as a Land Surveyor. My work colleague, Laurie, and me, learnt a lot about tyres, spinifex and the importance of the Roadside Diner.<\/p>\n

\nSo it was sad when I heard recently that the Tanami Track was in such bad shape that the speed limit is 25km\/hr (link in the linked article below, back in 2009).<\/p>\n

This area of Australia is so beautiful that I imagine the luxury of looking out the window wistfully into the distance is a thing of the past.<\/p>\n

And then there are the people who need this road to make a living.<\/p>\n

Have not heard how it affects the Aborigines of Yuendemu, but cannot imagine it is good news.<\/p>\n

Hope the day will not come that Tanami Track at 25km\/hr … like in 2009<\/a> is no more.<\/p>\n
