And then, in 2001, the great <a target=\"_blank\" href='https:\/\/www.wikipedia.org\/' rel=\"noopener\">Wikipedia<\/a> was launched, and quickly all those encyclopaedias in book form looked a bit wan.<\/p>\n<p>As we have surmised often, where we see this &#8220;superhighway&#8221; excelling is on questions related to the &#8220;where&#8221; of life, and the quality and quantity of online maps is awe inspiring <font size=1>(as well as yours truly being a sucker for any interesting map)<\/font>.<\/p>\n<p>Then, reading today in the <a target=\"_blank\" href='https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/' rel=\"noopener\">Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> online newspaper, an article called <a target=\"_blank\" href='https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/national\/nsw\/the-rajs-bought-into-the-australian-dream-it-came-with-a-nightmare-20260311-p5o9gd.html' rel=\"noopener\">The Rajs bought into the Australian dream. It came with a nightmare<\/a> (by Anthony Segaert) and scrolling down to see a map titled &#8220;The new growth centres in Sydney&#8217;s west&#8221; it was not only where these growth centres were located that caught our attention &#8230; it was also &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"width:95%;\" src='\/Mac\/south_creek.png' title='South Creek or Wianamatta'><\/img><\/p>\n<p>Huh?!  We travel the M4 a lot, and never noticed creeks between the Nepean River and Eastern Creek <font size=1>(but will definitely be looking more the next time)<\/font>.  We were intrigued, and so what started as geography interests (related to that <sup>great<\/sup> <sub>little<\/sub> <a target=\"_blank\" title='South Creek or Wianamatta information from Wikipedia ... thanks' href='https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/South_Creek_(New_South_Wales)' rel=\"noopener\">South Creek or Wianamatta<\/a> <font size=1>(and it&#8217;s 15 or so tributaries<sup>?!<\/sup>)<\/font>, went in various directions, as the online world is so good at getting us information.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s what is great, all those years into the &#8220;superhighway&#8221; age, but what we need more diligence with is &#8220;where&#8221; <font size=1>(again)<\/font> your information comes from &#8230; it&#8217;s &#8220;providence&#8221;.  Personally, we find comfort in the Wikipedias of this world that are Not For Profit in their thinking, and there is no apparent agenda.
