But, regarding this, with all the terminology coming at you, can&#8217;t we just say an &#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\napplication does something using software\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> &#8230; so there &#8230; ngharrrr!  We keep using the term <i>web application<\/i> in the sense that webpages around here written in PHP\/HTML\/Javascript\/CSS &#8230; we hope &#8230; &#8220;do something&#8221;.  They work from a web browser, primarily, but the PHP ones might also work, in a different guise from the command line or off <font size=1>the wonderful<\/font> <a target=\"_blank\" title='Linux or unix curl information from computerhope' href='http:\/\/www.computerhope.com\/unix\/curl.htm' rel=\"noopener\">curl<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll hear the term &#8220;mobile application&#8221; or &#8220;mobile app&#8221; or just &#8220;app&#8221; mainly in terms of something you install via the Apple Store or Google Play to an iOS or Android device respectively.  But all we have to do here on iOS with an iPhone or iPad to make one of our &#8220;web applications&#8221; into a &#8220;mobile app&#8221; <font size=1>(albeit minus the fancy icon)<\/font> is &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be in a web browser on an iOS mobile device <font size=1>(and something similar will probably work for Android device)<\/font><\/li>\n<li>type in or link to one of the URLs pointing to one of our web applications &#8230; the three featuring in today&#8217;s animated GIF presentation being ..\n<ol>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/PHP\/prepend\/talk_about_it.php\" rel=\"noopener\">Message Board<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/HTMLCSS\/experimental_peers_drag_and_drop.php\" rel=\"noopener\">Drag and Drop Peers<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/HTMLCSS\/swipe_media.html%20ask\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube API Radio Play<sup>list Ask<\/sup><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>there is probably a Share Menu icon down the bottom &#8230; in which case, tap it &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>there will be a sharing option that reads something like &#8230;<br \/>\n<code><br \/>\nAdd to Home Screen<br \/>\n<\/code><br \/>\n &#8230; which you should tap\n<\/li>\n<li>tailor the URL and title (but not icon) as required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Voila!<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s animated GIF presentation shows us creating <font size=1>(what we see as effectively)<\/font> &#8220;mobile applications&#8221; <font size=1>(and aren&#8217;t these &#8220;desktop applications&#8221; too)<\/font> from three &#8220;web applications&#8221; including one created at a particular timing after an address bar adjustment nuance (the one asking for Radio Play playlists as a first webpage Cancel<sup>able<\/sup> Javascript prompt showing window as you tap the Home Screen effectively &#8220;mobile app&#8221; conduit).<\/p>\n<p>We hope you try some of this for yourself!<\/p>\n<p>If this was interesting you may be interested in <a title='Click here to see topics in which you might be interested' href='#d70576' onclick='var dv=document.getElementById(\"d70576\"); dv.innerHTML = \"&lt;iframe width=670 height=600 src=\" + \"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/tag\/iphone\" + \"&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;\"; dv.style.display = \"block\";'>this<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<div id='d70576' style='display: none; border-left: 2px solid green; border-top: 2px solid green;'><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The word application is ubiquitous to do with the online world.
