{"id":69967,"date":"2025-10-01T03:01:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T17:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/?p=69967"},"modified":"2025-09-30T09:43:59","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T23:43:59","slug":"wordpress-blog-page-versus-post-tutorial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wordpress-blog-page-versus-post-tutorial\/","title":{"rendered":"WordPress Blog Page Versus Post Tutorial"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 230px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/HTMLCSS\/stop_start_youtube.html\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 15px solid pink;\" alt=\"WordPress Blog Page Versus Post Tutorial\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/page_versus_post.gif\" title=\"WordPress Blog Page Versus Post Tutorial\"  style=\"float:left;\"  \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">WordPress Blog Page Versus Post Tutorial<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" title='WordPress.org' href='https:\/\/wordpress.org' rel=\"noopener\">WordPress<\/a>, at least the one we look after, structures it&#8217;s blog content on &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>top menu driven content being controlled by <i>Edit Page<\/i> (terminology) arrangements (as far as the admin user is concerned) &#8230; versus &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>the other downaways content being controlled by <i>Edit Post<\/i> (terminology) arrangements (as far as the admin user is concerned)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>\nSo what?\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> &#8230; we hear you say!<\/p>\n<p>Well <sup>well<\/sup>, <sub>well<\/sub> &#8230; <strike title=\"Three holes in the ground ...\">yeah, we know<\/strike> &#8230; our much admired header.php WordPress <a target=\"_blank\" title='WordPress codex' href='https:\/\/codex.wordpress.org\/Main_Page' rel=\"noopener\">Codex<\/a> PHP piece of code &#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>we&#8217;re forever raving about &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>we&#8217;re forever tinkering with<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p> &#8230; is not helping out <i>Edit Page<\/i> content the way it helps out <i>Edit Post<\/i> content and that means the <i>Mixed Content<\/i> smarts we have embedded in our header.php allowing us to not have to worry about a URL <font size=1>(we&#8217;ve used in a textarea element editing session)<\/font> such as &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><code><br \/>\n<font color=black>ht<\/font>tp:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au<br \/>\n<\/code><\/p>\n<p> &#8230; causing a potential <a target=\"_blank\" title='Mixed content information from Wikipedia ... thanks' href='https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Content_Security_Policy' rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Mixed Content&#8221;<\/a> issue when the address bar shows a webpage under the protocol <font color=black>ht<\/font>tps: is handled by logic within header.php for us, here.<\/p>\n<p>For the most part, we wrote most of our <i>Edit Page<\/i> content back in the earlier 2010&#8217;s and it wasn&#8217;t such a worry with &#8220;Mixed Content&#8221; anything, but web browser security concerns have caught up, and if we have no header.php &#8220;protection&#8221;, if you will, we found out, revisiting our &#8220;Polls&#8221; <i>Edit Page<\/i> based content, today, with the horrors of discovering those issues there.  We needed to go around and get rid of <font color=black>ht<\/font>tp: references within <i>Edit Page<\/i> based content, in the content textarea elements themselves, rather than programmatically, with PHP (writes Javascript and HTML and CSS) code such as in header.php Codex file.<\/p>\n<p>Another thing about the thinking back then &#8230; do not worry about <i>?s=[search string]<\/i> of any type (even if [search string] is short)?!
