PHP\/Javascript Find Those Words Game Tutorial<\/p><\/div>\n

Do you like word games? Today’s game tests your vocabulary skills in English. It uses English words, based on the dictionary arrangements at its (web) server. Maybe it would be a good game to help learn even more English vocabulary.<\/p>\n

Today’s tutorial game which we will call “Find Those Words”<\/i> allows the user to change one letter in the computer’s words to form a valid new word, and the score increases for the user with a point for each letter of this new word. Once you use up all the words you know, or get cornered without being able to form a new valid English word, you can choose to create a new computer-generated word.<\/p>\n

Programmers often use Linux dictionary files<\/a> as a means to get a word list, and that list could be in any language, and for ours it is English, so to make it for another language, change the code inside the file_get_contents() call in findthosewords.php<\/a><\/p>\n

This game<\/a> has two parts to it for PHP and Javascript to respectively create the words to start the game, and to use and arrange the user interaction.<\/p>\n

Hopefully you can figure the rules when you click the picture above for a live run<\/a>. For today’s game there is a link to Email Your Friends that has a body link exactly simulating your current state of play, and there is a Chat Room button link, should Chat be your “thang”.<\/p>\n
