Perhaps, <a target=_blank title='Audio vs Speaker in iPhone Phone app' href='https:\/\/discussions.apple.com\/thread\/8309195'>join the discussion<\/a>, where &#8220;Continuity settings&#8221; are mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>And what happens when you are On Hold with somebody <font size=1>(gasp!)<\/font> and another, more important call comes in? With a CDMA network, tap End and when the second call rings back, tap Accept, or drag the slider if iPhone is locked.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nPut the first call on hold and answer the new one: Tap Hold + Accept.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nWith a call on hold, tap Swap to switch between calls, or tap Merge Calls to talk with both parties at once. See Start a conference call.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nNote: With CDMA, you can\u2019t switch between calls if the second call was outgoing, but you can merge the calls. But in our defence Smart Phones are so much more than the Phone <font size=1>(app)<\/font> <font size=2>&#8230; wouldn&#8217;t you say?<\/font><\/p>\n<p>Okay, so yesterday we used an <a target=_blank title='Apple' href='http:\/\/apple.com'>Apple<\/a> iPhone Phone app to call someone.   Gasp!   We were put on hold.  It was then that it occurred to us that both of us wanted to hear, so that we could wander around doing things while the iPhone Phone was &#8220;on hold&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>But all we saw was the iPhone&#8217;s &#8220;number dialer screen&#8221; <font size=1>(apparently)<\/font>.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully we got to <a target=_blank title='Excellent advice, thanks' href='https:\/\/discussions.apple.com\/thread\/6787725'>this excellent link<\/a> &#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote cite='https:\/\/discussions.apple.com\/thread\/6787725'><p>\nQ:<br \/>\nAccessing the &#8220;speaker phone&#8221; during a call.<br \/>\nOnce I am in a call, how do I activate the speaker phone? Many a time in the past few days, especially while &#8220;on hold&#8221; it would have been easier to lay the phone down and turn the speaker on.
