How so?   Well, macOS Preview app 99% of the time succeeds with you &#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>highlighting all the relevant images in Finder app &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>two finger gesture Open With -&gt; Preview &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Export As PDF&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p> &#8230; and so does the &#8220;PDF presentation&#8221; trick for us &#8230; but not yesterday.  It being really more than &#8220;99%&#8221; we wasted a good deal of time not believing it, especially as Preview <a target=_blank title='?' href='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zIV4poUZAQo'>appeared not to admit defeat in any way<\/a> (ie. no error messages), just exporting the first image out of the fifteen we wanted in our PDF export requirement.<\/p>\n<p>The Books app no better, on macOS, this is.  So, what to do?  Think laterally, think minimally, perhaps.  How about (the usually pared down) &#8220;command line woooooorrrrrllllllldddd&#8221;?  Yes, we&#8217;ve done it before, and it was easy &#8230; good ol&#8217; <a target=_blank title='ImageMagick' href='http:\/\/www.imagemagick.org'>ImageMagick<\/a> and its brilliant command line &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><code><br \/>\nconvert [optionalSwitches] [imageSpec] [outputPDFname]<br \/>\n<\/code><\/p>\n<p> &#8230; for us in this set aside folder (on macOS Terminal app command line) &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><code><br \/>\nconvert -verbose *.* stylus_signature_email.pdf<br \/>\n<\/code><\/p>\n<p> &#8230; creating a 38mB <a target=_blank href=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/Mac\/iPad\/stylus_signature_email.pdf\" title=\"PDF presentation\">stylus_signature_email.pdf<\/a> &#8230; perhaps a hernia induced Preview reaction &#8230; and we&#8217;re all pretty shy about hernias <font size=1>&#8230; aren&#8217;t we?<\/font><\/p>\n<p>Lesson two here is, fairly patently, try to reduce your image sizes ahead of exporting to PDF.  JPEG images are good in this respect.<\/p>\n<p><!--p>You can also see this play out at WordPress 4.1.1's <a target=_blank  href='\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/making-of-stylus-email-signatures-with-touch-devices-tutorial\/'>Making of Stylus Email Signatures with Touch Devices Tutorial<\/a>.<\/p-->\n<hr>\n<p id='sestdt'>Previous relevant <a target=_blank title='Stylus Email Signatures with Touch Devices Tutorial' href='\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/stylus-email-signatures-with-touch-devices-tutorial\/'>Stylus Email Signatures with Touch Devices Tutorial<\/a> is shown below.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 230px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a target=_blank href=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/Mac\/iPad\/stylus_signature_email.pdf\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 15px solid pink;\" alt=\"Stylus Email Signatures with Touch Devices Tutorial\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/Mac\/iPad\/stylus_signature_email.jpg\" title=\"Stylus Email Signatures with Touch Devices Tutorial\"  style=\"float:left;\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stylus Email Signatures with Touch Devices Tutorial<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Yesterday&#8217;s <a title='Stylus with Touch Devices Primer Tutorial' href='#stdpt'>Stylus with Touch Devices Primer Tutorial<\/a> got us thinking about an annoyance we have with modern life whereby it is still asked that you &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>receive forms online &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>and then are asked to sign these and email them back &#8230; the bugbear being &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>that form owner forbids electronic signing and so requires you to rescan the documents with your signature made by a pen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now I&#8217;m not saying that there may not be a legitimate reason for this, amongst them being that we, the world, are definitely not yet anywhere near &#8220;au fait&#8221; with the various improving electronic signature functionalities out there.  But it seems to me a bit juvenile to have a &#8220;blanket rule no&#8221; to &#8220;signatures on mobile devices via stylus annotated form filling&#8221;, as there are surely ways to know this is legitimate &#8220;real person&#8221; usage, or not.<\/p>\n<p>But, did you know, on an iPad or iPhone, this procedure can be as simple as &#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>receive forms online on an iPad or iPhone and download form images that need filling out and\/or signing to Photos app &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>in Photos app Select these form photos to reply to this same emailer and annotate via Share -&gt; Mail option&#8217;s top right Annotating icon<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/Mac\/iPad\/IMG_0649.PNG\"><\/img><br \/>\n &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>fill in and sign away with drawing options and your <font size=1>(perhaps recently discovered)<\/font> stylus &#8230; and as you tap Done &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>email attachment includes your annotations as it wings its way back to the emailee as you tap the Send button\/icon<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>?  <a target=_blank href=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/Mac\/iPad\/stylus_signature_email.pdf\" title=\"Click picture\">Cute, huh?!<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--p>You can also see this play out at WordPress 4.1.1's <a target=_blank href='\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/stylus-email-signatures-with-touch-devices-primer-tutorial\/'>Stylus Email Signatures with Touch Devices Tutorial<\/a>.<\/p-->\n<hr>\n<p id='stdpt'>Previous relevant <a target=_blank title='Stylus with Touch Devices Primer Tutorial' href='\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/stylus-with-touch-devices-primer-tutorial\/'>Stylus with Touch Devices Primer Tutorial<\/a> is shown below.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 230px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a target=_blank href=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/Mac\/iPad\/stylus_ipad.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 15px solid pink;\" alt=\"Stylus with Touch Devices Primer Tutorial\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/Mac\/iPad\/stylus_ipad.gif\" title=\"Stylus with Touch Devices Primer Tutorial\"  style=\"float:left;\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stylus with Touch Devices Primer Tutorial<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Are you a tablet or mobile phone user whose index finger of your favoured hand is suffering mightily?! The brand we chose was Targus and their &#8220;slim stylus&#8221; for $12 (Australian dollars).<\/p>\n<p>As you can see from today&#8217;s <a target=_blank href=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/Mac\/iPad\/stylus_ipad.gif\" title=\"Tutorial picture\">animated GIF<\/a> presentation it is not only the tapping of icons that the stylus can help with, but &#8220;scribble&#8221; type drawing and signature functionality it can excel at.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve found that using the stylus we move around the tablet or mobile phone quicker and more accurately than with our finger tap and touch work.<\/p>\n<p>If this was interesting you may be interested in <a title='Click here to see topics in which you might be interested' href='#d52419' onclick='var dv=document.getElementById(\"d52419\"); dv.innerHTML = \"&lt;iframe width=670 height=600 src=\" + \"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/tag\/ipad\" + \"&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;\"; dv.style.display = \"block\";'>this<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<div id='d52419' style='display: none; border-left: 2px solid green; border-top: 2px solid green;'><\/div>\n<hr>\n<p>If this was interesting you may be interested in <a title='Click here to see topics in which you might be interested' href='#d52424' onclick='var dv=document.getElementById(\"d52424\"); dv.innerHTML = \"&lt;iframe width=670 height=600 src=\" + \"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/tag\/annotate\" + \"&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;\"; dv.style.display = \"block\";'>this<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<div id='d52424' style='display: none; border-left: 2px solid green; border-top: 2px solid green;'><\/div>\n<hr>\n<p>If this was interesting you may be interested in <a title='Click here to see topics in which you might be interested' href='#d52431' onclick='var dv=document.getElementById(\"d52431\"); dv.innerHTML = \"&lt;iframe width=670 height=600 src=\" + \"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/tag\/iamgemagick\" + \"&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;\"; dv.style.display = \"block\";'>this<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<div id='d52431' style='display: none; border-left: 2px solid green; border-top: 2px solid green;'><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Somewhere along the line with the mixed device goings on in yesterday&#8217;s Stylus Email Signatures with Touch Devices Tutorial&#8216;s content consisting of &#8230; iPad screenshots emailed in two parts (ie. two separate emails) iPhone photographing iPad photos separately emailed &#8230; &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/making-of-stylus-email-signatures-with-touch-devices-tutorial\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[12,37],"tags":[3456,1832,158,234,2650,322,2218,3647,380,407,436,3648,590,1658,597,630,631,662,795,913,983,1036,1784,3645,1242,1252,1294,1319],"class_list":["post-52431","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-elearning","category-tutorials","tag-annotate","tag-annotation","tag-books","tag-command-line","tag-convert","tag-device","tag-draw","tag-drawing","tag-email","tag-export","tag-finder","tag-finger","tag-image","tag-imagemagick","tag-images","tag-ipad","tag-iphone","tag-jpeg","tag-mobile","tag-pdf","tag-preview","tag-reduction","tag-signature","tag-stylus","tag-tap","tag-terminal","tag-touch","tag-tutorial"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/52431"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=52431"}],"version-history":[{"count":10,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/52431\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":52441,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/52431\/revisions\/52441"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=52431"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=52431"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=52431"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
