Maybe that is (to do with) the devices, perhaps, but there has also got to be an element of &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>you can lose functionality as a trade off for smaller screen sizes, on occasion<\/li>\n<li>you can lose <font size=1>(the feel of)<\/font> &#8220;the room to move and think, and so are willing to wait for processes to finish&#8221; as a trade off for smaller screen sizes, on occasion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> &#8230; <a target=_blank href=\"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/Mac\/gmail_spam_search.gif\" title=\"Click picture\">at least for me<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And though <font color=blue>it<\/font> may be there with &#8220;iPad via its Mail app&#8221; we relied on &#8220;macOS via Gmail Webmail&#8221; (incarnation&#8217;s) Advanced search option &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><code><br \/>\n<font color=blue>Mail &amp; Spam &amp; Trash<\/font><br \/>\n<\/code><\/p>\n<p> &#8230; to get us out of trouble successfully on &#8220;Two Out of Three<font size=1> Aint Bad<\/font>&#8221; occasions with our &#8220;digging up&#8221; work.  Even the third one, though not finding what we wanted, was not &#8220;inept&#8221;, but could not find it because it wasn&#8217;t there, and at least gave us piece of mind we&#8217;d looked everywhere for it.<\/p>\n<p>There is another point here.  The online wooooorrrllldd seems to be shaping towards putting pressure on &#8220;email&#8221; as becoming (like &#8220;cassettes&#8221; and &#8220;DVDs&#8221; and the like &#8230;) heading towards obsolescence.  And though yours truly will fight tooth and nail against this because &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>we have a degree of disrespect for a &#8220;business practice&#8221; wooooooooooorrrrrrllllddd based on 24&#215;7 &#8230; pitting &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>what we see as 90+% of the time the undue pressure of SMS and Notifications versus Email as being a halfway house of a modicum of &#8220;get back to you&#8221; leeway<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> &#8230; it could be that <a target=_blank href='https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Email_spam' title='Spam information from Wikipedia, thanks'>Spam<\/a> is part of (the reason for) that &#8220;obsolescence&#8221; push.  As a programmer I know it can be tricky to set up email arrangements that don&#8217;t end up as Spam (in Gmail&#8217;s mind) and perhaps there is some point here (for Gmail&#8217;s Spam algorithms), but I&#8217;d rather an &#8220;education program&#8221; for &#8220;Email Savvy&#8221; here, rather than ditching this great <font size=1>(&#8220;greatest&#8221;, for us)<\/font> communication tool called &#8220;email&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>If this was interesting you may be interested in <a title='Click here to see topics in which you might be interested' href='#d50273' onclick='var dv=document.getElementById(\"d50273\"); dv.innerHTML = \"&lt;iframe width=670 height=600 src=\" + \"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/tag\/email\" + \"&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;\"; dv.style.display = \"block\";'>this<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<div id='d50273' style='display: none; border-left: 2px solid green; border-top: 2px solid green;'><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Around here we&#8217;ve had a week of &#8220;digging up bits of non-immediate communication&#8221; relating to organizational and end of year and car maintenance issues and we related to &#8230; &#8230; Meatloaf&#8217;s &#8220;Two Out of Three Aint Bad&#8221; a lot, because &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/gmail-webmail-non-mobile-non-app-advanced-search-tutorial\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[12,33,37],"tags":[2850,1709,380,503,626,630,2178,2791,1110,1159,1166,3125,1319,1417],"class_list":["post-50273","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-elearning","category-software","category-tutorials","tag-advanced-search","tag-communication","tag-email","tag-gmail","tag-ios","tag-ipad","tag-macos","tag-notifications","tag-search","tag-sms","tag-software-2","tag-spam","tag-tutorial","tag-webmail"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/50273"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=50273"}],"version-history":[{"count":8,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/50273\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":50283,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/50273\/revisions\/50283"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=50273"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=50273"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=50273"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
