Well, we&#8217;d recommend the <a target=_blank title='Windows 10 Snipping Tool' href='https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-au\/help\/4027213\/windows-10-open-snipping-tool-and-take-a-screenshot'>&#8220;Snipping Tool&#8221;<\/a> on Windows 10, and to have it conveniently placed in the Toolbar (as a Toolbar icon) to remind you of its existence, and brilliance!<\/p>\n<p>You may recall us talking before about similar (software) products within the remit of the web browsers themselves, a case in point being Firefox&#8217;s <a target=_blank title='Firefox My Shots' href='https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/kb\/firefox-screenshots'>My Shots<\/a>, that we talked about with <a target=_blank title='Firefox My Shots Primer Tutorial' href='https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/firefox-my-shots-primer-tutorial\/'>Firefox My Shots Primer Tutorial<\/a> or Microsoft Edge&#8217;s <a target=_blank title='Microsoft Edge Web Notes' href='http:\/\/windows.microsoft.com\/en-au\/windows-10\/getstarted-write-on-the-web'>Web Notes<\/a>, that we talked about with <a target=_blank href='https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/microsoft-edge-web-notes-primer-tutorial\/' title='Microsoft Edge Web Notes Primer Tutorial'>Microsoft Edge Web Notes Primer Tutorial<\/a>.  But with Windows 10 Snipping Tools we&#8217;re talking about being able to capture partial screen shots with anything, not just within a window of a web browser (of a particular brand).  This can be an ideal tool to &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>explain a procedure<\/li>\n<li>share with somebody a matter of interest<\/li>\n<li>piece together the images base necessary for a slideshow or video<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> &#8230; the possibilities are endless.  Of course, with Windows, the keyboard PrntScn key can capture a whole window or screen, and may be perfectly suitable for a particular purpose here.  But often, it is that &#8220;snippet&#8221; of the screen, perhaps involving multiple application windows, that should be the focus of attention, and the &#8220;Snipping Tool&#8221; can step in to help out here.<\/p>\n<p>How can you use the Windows 10 &#8220;Snipping Tool&#8221; desktop application?<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>click the toolbar Snipping Tool icon, or the icon elsewhere in a menu or on the desktop, that gets you to it &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>click the left hand &#8220;New&#8221; button<\/li>\n<li>the device screen fades a bit and a larger cursor appears ready for you to define &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>a top left and drag to bottom right &#8220;snippet&#8221; subwindow definition, shown to you by a red &#8220;snippet&#8221; bordered outline &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>a new &#8220;Snipping Tool&#8221; window opens, from which you can select from the &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>File (menu) the Save As (suboption) &#8230; at which you &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>type in the new image name and select a location to Save As on the hard disk (we&#8217;re recommending) and an image type<\/li>\n<li>Once here, you can, optionally, share this image as an email attachment or in an SMS (for many platforms) etcetera etcetera etcetera<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>To our minds, a <a title='Windows 10 Snipping Tool Primer Tutorial' href=\"http:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/Windows\/snipping_tool.pdf\" title=\"Click picture\">very easy, and very useful, and very intuitive<\/a> image manipulation tool.<\/p>\n<p>If this was interesting you may be interested in <a title='Click here to see topics in which you might be interested' href='#d42346' onclick='var dv=document.getElementById(\"d42346\"); dv.innerHTML = \"&lt;iframe width=670 height=600 src=\" + \"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/tag\/windows\" + \"&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;\"; dv.style.display = \"block\";'>this<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<div id='d42346' style='display: none; border-left: 2px solid green; border-top: 2px solid green;'><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you often surfing the net, or doing something else on your Windows 10 PC, and come across a scenario where a &#8220;snippet&#8221; of the screen is something you&#8217;d like to screenshot and share with someone, or otherwise save as &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/windows-10-snipping-tool-primer-tutorial\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[12,29,37],"tags":[96,1856,265,319,2256,2762,2763,2005,1319,1583,1435,1686],"class_list":["post-42346","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-elearning","category-operating-system","category-tutorials","tag-application","tag-clip","tag-copy","tag-desktop","tag-screen","tag-snippet","tag-snipping-tool","tag-tool","tag-tutorial","tag-window","tag-windows","tag-windows-10"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/42346"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=42346"}],"version-history":[{"count":7,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/42346\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":42361,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/42346\/revisions\/42361"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=42346"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=42346"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=42346"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
