As I don&#8217;t use Facebook, nor its Live Chat mode, I do not have &#8220;a good level of personal expertise&#8221;.  However, there is, out there &#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the internet and its search engines<\/li>\n<li>logic<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>So, after getting whatever information you can off the user &#8230; and have to admit the information was not detailed here, to the extent that the error message was not remembered clearly &#8230; otherwise, my first thought is often &#8230; feed the exact error message in double quotes to the <a target=_blank title='Google Search Engine' href='http:\/\/www.google.com'>Google<\/a> search engine &#8230; let&#8217;s jump straight to the second of these &#8230; &#8220;logic&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>What do I know regarding what might help?  Amongst other things Live Chat involves Audio and Video?  Is there anything you could perhaps use to reproduce the problem &#8230; we like <a target=_blank title='Skype' href='http:\/\/www.skype.com'>Skype<\/a> &#8230; and this panned out to be a great idea, because Skype also failed the same way in a Skype session between her Windows 10 laptop and my Macbook Pro laptop.<\/p>\n<p>So that proves we have a way to test whether any fix we attempt is likely to have made the problem go away &#8230; great.<\/p>\n<p>So that leaves <i>&#8220;how to fix&#8221;<\/i>, and for that the first option above helped.<\/p>\n<p>We found a little down the list of <a target=_blank title='Google Search ... webcam video disabled windows 10' href='https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=facebook+live+chat+video+disabled&#038;ie=utf-8&#038;oe=utf-8#q=webcam+video+disabled+windows+10+'>this Google search<\/a> this really <a target=_blank href='http:\/\/www.oxhow.com\/disable-integrated-webcam-in-windows-10\/' title='Useful link'>useful link<\/a> &#8230; thanks.<\/p>\n<p>As you might be guessing, the solution revolves around Window&#8217;s <a target=_blank title='Microsoft Windows Device Manager application information by Microsoft' href='http:\/\/windows.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/open-device-manager#1TC=windows-7'>Device Manager<\/a> application you can access via &#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Win + R (from Windows Desktop)<\/li>\n<li>Type in &#8220;devmgmt.msc&#8221; (to access Device Manager application)<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;Imaging Devices&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Right click your active Webcam device<\/li>\n<li>If Webcam enabled now, and it shows &#8220;Disable&#8221; as an option, choose that now<\/li>\n<li>If you followed the step above, only, repeat the right click of your active Webcam device<\/li>\n<li>If Webcam disabled now, and it shows &#8220;Enable&#8221; as an option, choose that now<\/li>\n<li>Reboot the laptop, if and when instructed to do so<\/li>\n<li>Retest Skype &#8230; yayyyyyyyyy!!!<\/li>\n<li>For my student, retest Facebook Live Chat mode at home, at their leisure<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If this was interesting you may be interested in <a title='Click here to see topics in which you might be interested' href='#d17184' onclick='var dv=document.getElementById(\"d17184\"); dv.innerHTML = \"&lt;iframe width=670 height=600 src=\" + \"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/?tag=windows\" + \"&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;\"; dv.style.display = \"block\";'>this<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<div id='d17184' style='display: none; border-left: 2px solid green; border-top: 2px solid green;'><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we discuss a problem, with Windows 10, and Internet Explorer, one of my students was having using Facebook with a Live Chat, and having the video not work at her end, but was working at the other end, and &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/facebook-webcam-video-failure-primer-tutorial\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[12,18,37],"tags":[200,1684,622,1685,1148,1313,1319,1413,1435,1686],"class_list":["post-17184","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-elearning","category-hardware","category-tutorials","tag-chat","tag-facebook","tag-internet-explorer","tag-live-chat","tag-skype","tag-troubleshooting","tag-tutorial","tag-webcam","tag-windows","tag-windows-10"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/17184"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=17184"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/17184\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":17190,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/17184\/revisions\/17190"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=17184"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=17184"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rjmprogramming.com.au\/ITblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=17184"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
